Multimedia II: Week 9

I watched Invisible Children which about the children and their living conditions in Africa. This documentary was about 3 guy friends who decided they wanted to go to Africa and they ended up filming a whole documentary when they saw what the children there were doing just to survive. The children would leave their homes to go sleep somewhere entirely different to be safe from being abducted. Each and everyone of the children said there biggest fear was being abducted by the rebels and that is why they commuted every day to sleep with thousands of other children. If they didn’t they feared they would be forced by the LRA (Lords Resistance Army) to kill people or that they would be killed themselves. Many of the children that have been taken are between the ages of 8 and 14 and are the males are required to be soldiers while the females are forced to be sex slaves. Kony who leads the LRA indicts the children by making them witness brutal murders. He even goes as far as to murder their families showing the children they have nothing to return to at home so they have no reason to run away. Some of the boys interviews talked about their older brother who had been killed or about their friends they haven’t seen so they don’t even know if they are alive anymore. Their living conditions are terrible and many of the children will probably not make it. Many of them are starving to death because they are lucky to have one meal a day. They sleep on concrete floors with very thin blankets if they are lucky enough to have one. This documentary was incredibly interesting considering a few years ago you heard about Kony everywhere but learning more in depth what it was about, what they do, and who is affected was really sad. Invisible Children was made in hopes to bring the children back home to their families. They ask for donations of time, talent and money to help these children.
